Cabin Fun

the 3 of us were lucky enough to go spend the last weekend at Grandma & Grandpa Nelson's cabin. It's one of our favorite places to be! They have worked hard to make it relaxing and accomodating for everyone who stays there, and its amazing how they can make you feel so at home when they aren't even there! Tim has many memories from going there as he grew up, it's fun to hear the old stories. He admires his Grandparents so much and every time he's there he walks around to see what cool new thing his Grandpa has done around the place to make life run a little smoother. He always says, "Of course Grandpa would think of that. That is such a good idea! Why didn't I think of that?" I try to remind him that he has many years ahead of him to reach his Grandpa's level of resourcefulness, and that he's at least off to a very good start. He also can't wait to get his hands on one of Grandma's peanut butter cookies that are without fail in the freezer every time.

Timmy had a great time exploring everything. He loooooved being outside. Here he is on the ski-lift swing: And here he is the next day on the swing again. What a great way to hang on tight when there aren't any handles!

we took him across the street where the little ranch has a play area. Tim and I had never ventured over to the toys before, usually we can only be found at the pickleball court getting into some pretty intense matches. Oh, how times have changed :)

The boys had a great time exploring the property. Timmy would have been out there for hours.

This horse at the ranch kept coming up to the fence to get a closer look at us! Isn't she (or he) pretty?

We looked outside the first morning and saw this elk using the tree as a scratching post. And forgive me if this is not an elk, I don't claim to know a thing about these sort of animals. You see, I'm not the hunting kind. I did once eat a moose burger that my Grandpa Glenn caught and it was kind of traumatic.

Then, we looked over to the front yard and saw this. It's amazing how well they all blend into the trees.

Timmy was thrilled to have stairs to climb! He felt right at home.

We saw that they had Christmas lights on the back porch, and if you know LT, you know he LOVES lights. I cannot tell you how many times he says "light" in one day. Here he is before....

.....and AFTER the lights were plugged in! Wish you could hear the sound effects. They go something like this "ooooh!!!! Light. Light!!!"

ooooh! they go all the way up! so exciting :)

It was a great little getaway for the 3 of us!

Tramatic because it was a moose burger or tramatic because we had them 3 nights in a row and then I threw them up at the fun factory right in front of your eyes???!!!
teehee!
LOVE the light pictures of Timmy, it's fun to see his expression change! He's so precious! :)

Oohhh, hunter you are not either. Grandpa was no Paul Bunyan who "caught" a moose- he really just shot it. From a distance. ;)
Sweet pictures of LT in the parka- he looks like a little Tim. Oh wait- he IS a little Tim! Ditto your thoughts on the cabin- Grandpa and Grandma Nelson are outstanding!I'm with Tim in hoping to be that resourceful someday. Good to have local heros! :)

Awesome. That sounds like so much fun. Sometimes it's nice to get out of the normal environment and be with just your family. That is important around te holidays.

D- yes, the whole fiasco was traumatic, but an oddly happy memory nonetheless!

Oh, and thanks Mal for clearing that whole hunting thing up for me ;)
